Our godson Patrick turned a whole 1 year old at the end of January!  Long time friends of ours and wonderful parents Mike and Allison asked me to do Patrick’s pictures to commemorate his 1 year birthday and of course, I gladly accepted!  We had a ton of fun and Patrick kept his attention going A LOT longer than we all expected (thank you Patrick!)  Check out this cutie in all his glory!

I have been playing around with lighting a TON lately!  I got myself some Alien Bees AB800s and some umbrellas as well as some awesome new backdrops.  I love doing mock shoots as they allow for a great time to just photograph, take notes, and test out new technique.  Here are some shots from the most recent “mock shoot,” trying out some back lighting to add depth to the image and lighting placement and strength.  Enjoy!

Thanksgiving morning 2010 was not ordinary for me this year.  While most were at home watching the parade I was out with a couple I have worked with many times before except this time, there was a new addition!  Kiel and Jina wanted to get some nice shots to share with family and friends over the holidays as they are expecting their first born this year!  We had a lot of fun at Akron Falls State Park.  Conditions were perfect!  No rain, a little fog, and very faint sun=beautiful lighting conditions.  Congratulations to you both!  Here are some highlights!

In the past year, I have not only fallen in love with photographing weddings but I have gone head over heels for photographing children.  There is something about their innocence and their willingness to play that makes them so fun to capture and, they remind us so easily of what really matters when we’re going through our day to day.  I could probably spend countless hours with each child just capturing them playing and being themselves.  This holiday season, I had the pleasure of capturing little Grace in all her leaps and bounds.  I think anyone will agree she is absolutely ADORABLE!  I set up the “studio” in their livingroom and just let her go wild.  It was so fun to capture Grace’s every move as she played along with Rudolph and Clarice and had a ball rolling around and throwing the ornaments.  She kept asking to “see the baby” on the camera screen and as soon as she did, without fail, everytime, she clasped her hands and grinned from ear to ear because she knew who was in the picture! (makes your heart melt!) We got some great shots that day and they made a cute Christmas card too!!!  Here are some of my favorites from Grace’s session!

WOW!  We made it through a wonderful, fun and BUSY holiday season!  November hit and so did the sessions!  I haven’t had much time to breathe let alone blog about all the fun sessions and designing I’ve been doing.  So, now that we’re in the new year, I wanted to take the opportunity to share what I’ve been up to.  I love the holidays and this year I have even more reasons to love that magical time of year.  To start my string of posts that are long overdue, I want to share a fun session I had with Harry, Jessica, and their three furry friends.  This was my first time using any kind of lighting/studio set up on my own but also, the first time I’ve had the opportunity to work with multiple animals.  I quickly found that all you have to do is make silly noises and they pay attention very quickly!  Here are some highlights from their super fun “studio” session!
