Scott and Julie: There’s no better way to describe this couple other than adorable and so sweet.  When we first met for our initial consultation, I KNEW we would be the perfect team!  First of all, they were getting married at Becker Farms, one of my absolute favorite Western New York wedding venues! Second (and most important!) they were SO incredibly laid back and fun.  We just HAD to work together!  And we did.  And what a day we had together!  I am so happy to finally feature their wedding story here on the blog!

Q: How did you and your significant other meet?

“Scott and I both met while working for the New York Islanders (Scott full time and Julie part time). Scott is originally from Buffalo, so Long Island was a big change. After a long day of pre-season campaigning, a whole group went to a bar, and the rest is history!”

Q: What was the proposal like?

“After 3 years of dating, Scott was looking to move back home and Julie was looking for a change. After a morning of interviews for us both, we went to Pearl Street for lunch, and I was dying to check out Canalside and see what all the hype was about 🙂 I was complaining about how hot it was and Scott didn’t want to leave. He pulled a bench into the shade, sat down and popped the question!”

Q: Describe the type of wedding you planned and why

“We planned a relaxed, rustic wedding at Becker Farms. Scott loves farms, and I love wineries 🙂 We wanted a beautiful, simple back drop and all of our guests to be comfortable and most importantly have fun!”

Q: What was the feeling when you woke up on your wedding day?

Julie – “I was a little nervous, not knowing what to expect and hoping things would run smoothly. But i was mostly excited to finally be able marry Scott :)”

Scott – “Excited, nervous and a little hungover (New York Beer Project lives up to the hype)!”

Q: Describe your favorite memory from your wedding day

Julie – “My favorite memory (other than marrying the love of my life) was looking around and knowing that all of the people we loved in the world were in the same room at the same time, and that may never happen again. I enjoyed soaking that in.”

Scott – “When the last song of the night came on (Friends in Low Places), and every wedding guest was on the dance floor belting out every word to the song with us.”

Q: Describe your feelings when you saw eachother for the first time on your wedding day

Julie – “All of my nerves went away, and I felt very calm. I don’t like being the center of attention and i was very nervous to have all eyes on us. it sound cliche, but i didn’t even notice anyone else.”

Scott – “Calm. I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”

Q: What is your favorite quality about your husband?

“His calming nature. He always shows me the bright side of every not-so-perfect day.”

Q: What do you most look forward to being married to your spouse?

“Having a partner and best friend to share all the exciting milestones in life with, and also to be my support system when things aren’t going so well.”

Q: What is your favorite quality about your wife?

“She challenges me, and makes me want to be the best version of myself.”

Q: What was your favorite element you planned or purchased for your wedding day?

“A lot of our decorations and signs were homemade, and are in our house today. we love being able to incorporate those things from the most important day of our lives.”

Q: What is your funniest memory of your wedding day?

“The introductions of the bridal party. Scott’s brothers are very quiet and reserved, so watching them be a little goofy was fun!”

Q: Describe the most emotional moment of your wedding day

Julie – “Speeches. my sister (MOH) did an equally beautiful job of making fun of me as little sisters should, and paying tribute to our dad who passed away a few years ago.”

Scott – “Speeches. realizing all of the love that was in the room was incredible.”

Q: If you could offer one piece of advice to couples currently planning a wedding, what would you say?

“Have fun and don’t stress out over the little things!  Be sure to stop and just take a look around and soak it in.  Take a mental picture becasue it really does go too fast.”

Our wedding season opened this year with Shannon and Ryan, a sweet and wonderful couple.  They are undeniably adorable together and balance eachother so well!  I was thrilled when they chose to work with me to document their wedding day. After an amazing engagement session, I knew the wedding was going to be no different.  Shannon planned a classic day: a beautiful church wedding, pretty pink dresses for the bridesmaids, her grandmother’s rosary on her bouquet, and a classy venue for their reception.  When a little rain and wind swept in on their big day, this couple embraced all that mother nature threw at them and it’s because of this that we captured so many wonderful moments. Mother Nature’s elements inspired us to create soft, natural images that truly matched their style and who they are as a couple. You can just feel the warmth and romance emulating from them! There was not a moment that a smile ever left Shannon’s face.  And Ryan, well, he was smitten over Shannon the entire day too of course!  From top to bottom it was such a pleasure to be there to tell their story through my lens and ultimately share it here on the blog! Finally!  Some time to catch up and give this poor baby of a blog some photo love!  I am making a severe understatement when I say how excited I am for this next post.  So, I will put it out there honestly:  I am beyond THRILLED and ECSTATIC to share this gorgeous wedding and super special couple with everyone.  What a trull magical and inspirational day we had photographing Christyn and Bryan’s wedding in Ellicottville at Holiday Valley Resort.  These two found me in the early spring looking for a photographer for their wedding and once we met, I knew it was a  match meant to happen.  I simply could not wait to work with Christyn and Bryan.  Laid back. Sweet. Fabulous chemistry. And a love and respect for the arts that matched mine.  Just a couple weeks after our adventurous engagement session at Letchworth State Park (Post here!) we headed to Ellicottville for the big day.  Let the fairytale begin…

We started the day with some preparation.  My favorite part of the day.  I was with the girls at The Edge Hair Salon for hair and makeup.  Such a cute little place!

 

Jessica Jean was on hand for makeup, working her magic and I have to say, she did some of THE BEST bridal makeup I have seen.  Christyn’s makeup was flawless and beautiful!

 

Meanwhile, my second photographer Becca was hanging with the guys…Bryan had cufflinks for each of his groomsmen with superhero logos

 

Time for Christyn to get ready to walk down the aisle.  I am in love with her bridal portraits!  That light!!

 

The backs of bridal gowns are my favorite.  It was Christyn’s favorite part of her dress and who could argue?!  Complete with tiny crystals, the beaded buttons were stunning and classic.

 

An emotional first look with mom and dad.  This one had us in tears.

 

Time for the ceremony!  Christyn and Bryan chose to go unplugged of their ceremony, asking guests to refrain from taking photos on their cell phone or personal cameras to preserve the sacred beauty of the ceremony and have everyone’s full attention.

 

These two, AH!  They just melt my heart.  The light (or “beautiful filtered light” as Christyn and Bryan learned 🙂 ) was PERFECT!  Can you feel the love???

One of the best father daughter dances I have witnessed, this one had me wiping tears from my eyes as Christyn and her dad serenaded each other as they danced.

 

Bryan had a special dance with his mom and birth mom, something truly special to witness.  There was so much love filling the room!

 

Time to get down and dance!  This crowd knew what to do!  DJ Miles Patterson kept the floor rocking!

Everytime I do a post, I am reminded of how awesome my job is.  I get to work with some pretty amazing and genuine couples!  Settimia and Pete were no exception.  The second we all met for their engagement session, I just knew they were going to be fantastic to work with.  Let’s begin: Settimia is one of THE MOST fun loving, kind-hearted and genuine souls you will ever meet.  She is my kind of gal, not afraid to be herself and ham it up, even on her wedding day.  You’ll see what I mean in one of the images below 😉 And Pete???  He’s a funny guy with a great sense of humor and is just smitten over Settimia.  Together, they’re dynamite.  They planned the perfect day from top to bottom, with a BIG wedding (the largest I have photographed to date!) They were married at St. John Maron Church in Williamsville with a Lebanese ceremony.  Photo stops included Shea’s Performing Arts Center, the streets of the Buffalo Theatre District and most importantly; the Kenmore Fire Department where Pete is a Volunteer Firefighter.  Another reason we all got along so well!  I was reminded of my own wedding as I captured Settimia and Pete along with their friends having a ball taking photos with the Ladder truck.  It was without a doubt an absolute blast!  To close, we had a hands down BLAST with these two and I am thrilled to share their wedding day!  It was tough to choose some faves but I think these images sum it up the best.  Cheers!

We headed back to Settmia’s mom’s house for some toasts and to get dressed.  Love this image of Tina and her mom.

Tina’s cousin was her Maid of Honor.  She made an adorable collage for Tina and gave it to her which of course, caused a few misty eyes.
