Buffalo Wedding Photographers

Gill and Sara gave me a unique experience this summer: A thursday wedding!!! Gasp! I have to say I was a big fan. Of course I still love all my weekend weddings. I wouldn’t be here without them. But seriously, Gill and Sara’s wedding was a breath of fresh air in more ways than one. Let’s start: These two are a very simple couple with hearts full of love for one another and it shows. They were married near Buffalo at one of my favorite venues in Western New York, Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards. Gill’s dress was perfect for her and Sara’s modern rustic chic vest, tie and pants were on point with fashion 🙂 I loved the color scheme of treys, yellows and blues and this wedding was FULL and I mean FULL of DIY decor and props. Gill is an artist as well so she had this wedding thing in the bag from the start! I continuously told them throughout our formal portrait time, running around the farm, they were so easy going and their simple desire for just a beautiful day and the opportunity to be together and share and celebrate their commitment showed in the natural beauty of their images here. I remember Gill saying “are we not the most awkward couple you’ve ever photographed?!” Or something along those lines. Absolutely not! Gill and Sara it was such an honor to be a part of making your wedding day a huge success. I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I do! Cheers!

I love little tiny details….like buttons

My absolute favorite FAVORITE part of the day: Getting ready. Undoubtedly, we always get these cool, creative shots with a ton of saturation!

Gill wore the same veil her mother wore for her wedding. I am a sucker for these nostalgic details that couples integrate into their day. It brings deeper meaning and spirituality to the whole wedding. AND the veil went PERFECTLY with her dress!

Gill and Sara planned a first look but we wanted to do something artsy in composition. I had them stand in separate doorways and hold hands, looking in the direction of one another but each unable to see the other. So close yet so far away. It was a very cute moment.

The moments of a first look always make me melt. I swear I anticipate the reveal as much as the bride(s) or groom(s). It always gives me goosebumps.

Look at that sky! We thought it was going to rain so the ceremony was bumped up a bit. Magically, it held off, with just this dark, massive cloud hanging overhead.

There is a ton of happiness in this photo and as simple as it is, I really like it.

The sun came out post-ceremony, just in time for us to go play in the vineyards and capture some romantic moments.

A beautiful and classic way to commemorate a loved one you have lost. This is a photo of Gill’s dad. She wanted him with her throughout the day and attached this charm to her bouquet to signify that.

“I don’t like cake! I would rather eat ice cream!” Gill exclaimed to Sara. Haha I so admired Gill’s humorous honesty in this moment. Coincidentally, she had planned Mason Jar Sundaes for everyone!

Enjoying the sunset over the hills in Gasport, NY at Becker Farms together. A perfect ending to a wonderful day. Thank you again you two!

Here we are! Mid-season and it has been unbelievable to say the least! I say this every year but I simply cannot believe how quickly the summer has flown by. Having done 15 weddings so far this season I have taken the opportunity to get into the storytelling aspect of my work. It has given me a deeper sense of connection and meaning to the images I create and ultimately paints a picture of the day for even a perfect stranger to the couple. The positive response I have received to this is wonderful and has inspired me to continue with it as a regular part of what I offer to my clients. As photojournalists, we don’t just take pictures. It is our job and our rooted nature to tell the story of each wedding through visual representation. It may sound boring but it is truly beautiful and I love it 🙂 With that said, here comes Kate and Matt’s wedding day story. Let’s start with our first meeting over a year ago in Williamsville, NY where we sat down over a cup of coffee to discuss details. Kate: Super bubbly, fun and just adorable as well as head over heels for Matt. Matt: Completely focused on marrying the girl of his dreams and totally smitten about Kate. These two were a match made in heaven and I won’t lie: I PRAYED they would decide to go with me as their photographer. Well, they booked and in June Kate and Matt said “I do” at Kloc’s Grove in West Seneca. Their day was relaxed, casual in spirit and elegant all around, and filled with excitement and love. I have witnessed this amazing chemistry between couples who have been together for awhile and Kate and Matt were no exception. Their interaction with each other is effortless and how they feel about one another and the road they have traveled on together shines through their beaming smiles and warm embraces. I feel like I say this with every wedding and the truth is I do! It was pure joy working with these two on their biggest day. Enjoy their wedding day and I hope you feel as much joy in these images as I did when capturing them.

Ring shots can often go unnoticed or be looked at as unimportant. I beg to differ. Finding cool and unique ring shots to take is a quirky passion of mine on a wedding day and with a rock like that, it deserves to be showed off!

I loved how each of Kate’s bridesmaids were all about Kate and 150% present and into making it the best day possible for her. You can see the joy and focus in this image.

I loved the lighting and the look on Kate’s face in this image.

For reasons I can’t explain, this is one of my favorite shots of the day. I think it is a combination of lighting and simple background.

One of my favorite moments at each wedding is when the groom completely melts as his bride walks down the aisle. It gets me every time and takes me back to my own wedding.

Undeniable love and devotion.

Kate and Matt wrote letters to each other and together, put them in a wooden box to be opened years later and read to one another. I have never seen this done and it was a truly unique touch to their day. Great idea!

Batter up!!! In case it wasn’t obvious someone is a huge baseball fan 😉

The night ended with a super fun sparkler send off for the couple! This was a first for me and it. Was. Awesome. I love how you can feel the movement in these images as Kate and Matt made their way through the line of their friends and family.

Alyssa & Greg Make History in Buffalo | Buffalo Wedding Photographers

What makes a great combination? Creative minds joining forces to create a smashingly beautiful and unique wedding! I met Alyssa and Greg about a year ago over a cup of coffee. I knew immediately I really wanted to work with them. They seemed so laid back, personable, and creative. Alyssa is a Graphic Designer with a true passion for the visual arts and all things funky and different. And I loved that! The second Alyssa told me they were having a bagpiper playing their cocktail hour I was reeled in; hook, line and sinker! I mean, have you really EVER been to a wedding where there’s a bagpiper playing?! Unless you were at Alyssa and Greg’s wedding chances are no. Needless to say we became a team and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be sharing their story here on the blog. Everything from the “history” of Alyssa’s dress to the detailed and unique elements in every part of their day made for a truly remarkable and memorable wedding. I could not help but beam with smiles as these two nailed every shot and constantly gave beautiful, organic moments between each other for me to capture. Here are some of our favorite shots from the day and the story of Alyssa and Greg’s weddings. Enjoy!

How can you not love the wallpaper?! Our story began at Greg’s grandmother’s home where the girls were getting ready. This was the kind of house you walk into and feel an immediate warmth and comfort. I thought this floral paper provided a funky accent to Alyssa’s dress and a great background as well.

Alyssa hand-painted her shoes as well as her bridesmaids. So cool!

So the story of the dress: MacKenzie, Alyssa’s sister, wore this dress 10 years ago for her wedding. Alyssa told me how at the holidays this past winter she decided to give it a try and when it fit, that was it! How fun and special that Alyssa and her sister wore the same dress for their weddings! Here The girls reminisce on Mackenzie’s wedding and share a laugh.

Clearly, every bride should have a few seamstresses who work for a bridal store on hand for their wedding day! Alyssa was lucky enough to have just that. I love this image of the dress “triage.”

Greg couldn’t be more happy or proud. This is one of my favorite moments at every wedding, one that even gets me choked up!

The priest not only shared wisdom and kind words for the day, he also share a sense of humor and had everyone laughing.

The awesome shoes!

These guys were a fun and goofy crew that shared an inside joke or two. I’m pretty sure that’s how we got this shot 😉

“Ain’t no mountain high, ain’t no valley low…” all the bridesmaids broke into song for a group speech and toast to Alyssa and Greg.

Wedding cake?! NO! How about Baklava instead. A favorite of Alyssa and Greg’s. Plus she made that beautiful topper by hand. So much talent.

Let the party begin! Alyssa and Greg had a packed dance floor all night and everyone was having a good time!

One of the aspects I most love about what I do is the relationships I build with my clients. From the very first time we meet to after the wedding, we make a connection that often turns into a lasting friendship. I get to know the back story to their relationship, where it all began, how long ago they met, what brought them to here and now, beginning a new and exciting chapter in their lives as individuals and most importantly, together as a couple. It all plays an integral role in their chemistry and the emotional magnitude of their images created on their wedding day. Kate and Jeff are no exception and I simply ADORE this couple. Let’s start here: Kate is THE nicest and most genuine soul you will ever meet in your life. Jeff has the ability to make anyone smile and laugh (ESPECIALLY Kate!) with one spoken word. Together, they are a truly dynamic and made-for-eachother duo. They have been together for what feels like a lifetime and their wedding put the seal on what I am positive will be a lifetime of lasting, evolving love and adoration. Their wedding was held at the always gorgeous Becker Farms in Gasport, NY, offering a rustic and breathtaking backdrop for the perfect wedding day. If you are planning your wedding, definitely check them out! It was nothing but a joy to capture Kate and Jeff’s wedding with beaming smiles and love at every turn. Ever the comedian, Jeff left an adorable and hilarious “love poem” for Kate when she returned from the salon. Not only did he say how much he loved her and as you see “Kate is the girl I’m going to marry,” he also let everyone know where a spare key was to let the dogs out!

Kate’s dress had the most simple and elegant silhouette and a low back to die for!

Jeff is an avid bike rider. I remember asking Kate how Jeff was doing when I arrived at the salon and she of course said “Great! He’s actually taking a bike ride this morning!” There was of course no surprise. So, appropriately bicycles were the theme for the wedding.

Kate and Jeff decided to do a first look, which I am a huge fan of! It was so sweet watching Kate quietly approach her groom, and Jeff was so calm and relaxed.

Every wedding brings with it personal elements that are truly unique and special. Kate’s father passed away a few years ago and they wanted a way to have him at the wedding. Kate’s mom brought out a framed picture and placed it on a seat in the front row. This was such a touching moment in the day I had to capture it.

This wedding season in Buffalo has been awesome so far! So many great couples, a ton of unique details that make me want to plan a wedding all over again (I’m pretty sure my husband would NOT go for that!), and some unique photo locations and new venues. At Michelle Day Photography we have been so incredibly busy with weddings nearly every weekend and it. has. been. AWESOME! Nevertheless it has also put me SLIGHTLY behind on my blog love so, without further ado, here it goes! A few short weeks ago on May 23, I traveled to Eden, NY to photograph the wedding of Alyssa and Bob. We met over a year ago over a cup of coffee, talked about their plans for the big day and got to know each other a bit more. I remember sitting across the table from them, hoping I was the lucky photographer to capture their wedding day. The way Alyssa smiled sweetly at Bob and Bob just smiled back. It was so evident that these two had a beautiful chemistry and were meant to be. We met for our engagement session at Knox Farms State Park on a blustery October day. When they were down for sitting in a field of tall grass, despite a bit of dampness, I knew they were the go-with-the-flow type of couple and their wedding would be great! Well, I was right! Bob and Alyssa were married at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Hamburg, NY and their reception was at the Marienthal Country Inn in Langford, NY. Five Star Productions provided the entertainment for the evening and these guys were TOP NOTCH! They kept that dance floor packed all night! Here are some of our favorite shots from Alyssa and Bob’s hometown wedding! Enjoy!

Alyssa’s mom keeps gorgeous gardens that are enough to make anyone jealous at their home! It made for a perfect backdrop for some shots of Alyssa’s dress!

Remarkably one of my favorite moments of every wedding: That moment when the groom sees his bride coming down the aisle. The best man is looking on proud as can be too. I love everything about this image!

Probably needless to say but, this church is MASSIVE!!! And beautiful! One of the longest aisles I have ever seen!

Taking in some good, sound advice from the Deacon and listening very intently!

We headed to Winter’s Pond in Langford, NY. I absolutely love shooting here! It’s incredibly unique and full of endless possibilities. If we had hours we could have been lost taking photo after photo after photo. And this crew was up for anything! Even sitting on an old, semi-dingy wagon. I love it!

My absolute FAVORTIE shot of the day! We all has a laugh as Alyssa’s veil was suddenly windswept and almost took a dive in the pond. I ran after it but thankfully did not need to make a rescue!

So much pure love and happiness I can’t stand it! 🙂

Arrival by horse-drawn carriage?! Now that’s riding in style!

Yummmmm! Somehow I resisted a cupcake despite the sweet and invigorating smell of vanilla frosting that wafted towards me as I took these shots! It was homemade by a family friend too! What a great touch
