MODERN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & ENGAGEMENTS: ROCHESTER, NY

I love having the opportunity to work in new locations.  It opens a whole new world of ideas and gives me inspiration for future sessions.  This past weekend I was in my hometown of Rochester, NY to work with a fantastic couple!  Plus, the groom is my cousin so doing this session was extra special!  Joe and Abby have been together for some time now so when he popped the question this past summer, we were all ecstatic.  We met up at Durand Eastman Park which is a huge park with a ton of variety for backdrop.  You have the beach, woods, trees, a boardwalk and more.  This location was not only beautiful but important to these two as they frequent the park with their two adorable furry friends Bith and Bella.  Check out some sneak peek images from their session.

I talk about it constantly, I know, but, I absolutely LOVE my job!  I meet so many wonderful couples and families and, I get the opportunity sometimes to work with some amazing people I know.  I have known Holly for a long time.  We go all the way back to high school and worked our first part time jobs together! (yeah!)  When Holly asked me to photograph her wedding back in our hometown, I was excited and honored.  How cool is it that I get to photograph the wedding of a wonderful and sweet person I have known for years!  She painted the picture for me nearly 1 year ago of her hometown wedding on her grandparents farm.  It all came alive on June 29.  Holly and her family had transformed her grandparents farm into a wedding wonderland.  The barn became the site for most of the action, decorated with mason jars, hundreds of white paper lanterns, and thousands of tiny white lights!  She even got up on her horse for some pretty cool shots!  I am pretty sure I am still pulling out cedar chips from the bottom of my bag after this wedding.  It was such a fun time, complete with dancing and the best BBQ dinner I have ever had!  Check out the shots from their wedding on the farm 🙂

Another awesome wedding for 2013!  Ashley and Dan were married at the Bond Lake Warming House in Lewiston, NY.  It was an absolutely stunning location and made for some breathtaking and color popping images from their day.  Our journey together began a year ago when we did their engagement session at Knox Farm.  I was crawling around photographing these two 8 months pregnant and we laughed together at their wedding remembering that!  Fortunately, I was not so pregnant this summer and could move around much easier at their wedding 🙂  I mean every word when I say Ashley and Dan are PERFECT for eachother and they know it too.  Their handwritten vows and exclusive first dance fake out (it started as Elvis “Can’t help falling in love” and quickly changed pace to Michael Jackson “the way you make me feel”) were a couple of the highlights for me.  The best moment however goes to the Ashley and her dad both shedding small tears of joy (picture below!) as they shared their dance.  It gets me every time!  I had a blast capturing their gorgeous wedding day!

This wedding season has been absolutely amazing!  I have been so lucky to work with some amazing couples (which is the BEST part of my job!) and be a part of their big day.  A few weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Kate and Ben’s wedding on the gorgeous grounds of the Chautauqua Institution in Mayville, NY.  Their fun-loving, classy and chic wedding and the grounds on the institute were a perfect match.  Kate and Ben were surrounded by sooo many family and friends and it was so evident just how much everyone embraced and was ready to celebrate their marriage.  These two are PERFECT for eachother!  I love happy tears and overwhelming joy.  And the dancing was out of this world!  They even had the staff up on chairs!!!  I had such a wonderful time capturing their day and thoroughly enjoyed watching their fairytale unfold!  Take a look at some of the highlights!  It was so hard to narrow it down!

Being a wedding photographer in Buffalo, NY has given me a chance to learn just how many cool places we have in our city.  April and Garrett were married a couple weeks ago on a nice, early spring afternoon.  Their ceremony took place at the Karpele’s Manuscript Library Museum (which was timeless and beautiful!) with a reception at one of my personal favorite venues: Pearl Street Grill & Brewery.  The best part of their day was Garrett’s dad performing their ceremony.  It added such a personal touch.  Being able to see father and son in the moments before the wedding, preparing themselves, one to marry his best friend, the other to watch his son begin the next chapter in his life, was such a sweet experience.  And that’s really what my job is all about: capturing those moments, the anxiety and excitement…everything!  Their day was filled with jokes, laughter, music and most importantly: Family.  Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your big day.
