On April 28th, I had a wonderful opportunity two collaborate with two great Western New York entrepreneurs, Gillian from Murals by Gillian and Mary Jo from Baby Bongos in Orchard Park.  Gillian paints gorgeous murals and you should definitely check her work out!  For this project though, she was diving into something called baby bump painting, basically face painting for your belly (for mommies-to-be of course!).  She was in need of a photographer and I of course said “Sure!  Why not?!”  We held the first baby bump painting party at Baby Bongos in Orchard Park and had a great, intimate group of ladies ready and eager to share their good news and have some fun getting painted.  It was a ton of fun and the results were definitely unique and beautiful!  Here are some highlights of Gillian in action and the beautiful bump paintings!  Enjoy!

Sunday, April 1, 2012 was anything but what the weather prediction was.  It was chilly, rainy, cloudy, and even hailed a couple times.  But, we didn’t let a little yucky weather get in the way of having an awesome engagement shoot, in facet, we used it to our creative advantage.  “perfect” pictures are not necessarily taken under what most people consider to be “perfect” conditions….sunny blue skies, maybe a few fluffy clouds.  I love the opportunity nature lends me as a photographer to get creative for the couples and families I work with, especially when it comes to the less than perfect conditions!  It is in those sessions where I often get some of the sweetest shots!  I had a blast running around Buffalo with Crysti and her fiance Dave.  They had such a magnetic chemistry that was adorable and it came across undoubtedly in the images we captured.  You guys look like models!  Not to mention they’re flexibility and willingness to try new ideas.  From Anderson’s Ice Cream to Spot Coffee to a run down and vine covered brick building, city hall and Gates Circle, this engagement has Buffalo all over it!  Seeing these two together just gets me hyped up for their November 2012 wedding!  Enjoy!

Our godson Patrick turned a whole 1 year old at the end of January!  Long time friends of ours and wonderful parents Mike and Allison asked me to do Patrick’s pictures to commemorate his 1 year birthday and of course, I gladly accepted!  We had a ton of fun and Patrick kept his attention going A LOT longer than we all expected (thank you Patrick!)  Check out this cutie in all his glory!

I have been playing around with lighting a TON lately!  I got myself some Alien Bees AB800s and some umbrellas as well as some awesome new backdrops.  I love doing mock shoots as they allow for a great time to just photograph, take notes, and test out new technique.  Here are some shots from the most recent “mock shoot,” trying out some back lighting to add depth to the image and lighting placement and strength.  Enjoy!

Thanksgiving morning 2010 was not ordinary for me this year.  While most were at home watching the parade I was out with a couple I have worked with many times before except this time, there was a new addition!  Kiel and Jina wanted to get some nice shots to share with family and friends over the holidays as they are expecting their first born this year!  We had a lot of fun at Akron Falls State Park.  Conditions were perfect!  No rain, a little fog, and very faint sun=beautiful lighting conditions.  Congratulations to you both!  Here are some highlights!
